Does God reveal his will to us??God does reveal His will to us just not always in the way we expect. We want clear cut answers for the “BIG things”…We want God to tell us where exactly to go to college or University, what to major in, who to marry, what house to buy.
Reading through the book of James, in Chapter 4, James tells us “…And yet the reason you don’t have what you want is that you don’t ask God for it. And even when you do ask, you don’t get it because your whole motive is wrong-you want only what will give you pleasure.”This is often how we approach decision making. We pray and ask God to guide us because we do not want to make a mistake, get heartbroken or have struggles. We assume that if we make the right decisions, everything will fall in place and go smoothly. But that’s not how it works. God is interested in the bigger picture, which is to prepare and develop our characters to bring Him glory. Which means God is just as interested in our journeys as He is about the outcome.”The steps of the Godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their life. Though they stumble, they will not fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”(Psalm 37:23-24).”For examples of patience in suffering, dear brothers and sisters, look at the Prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord…Job is an example of a man who endured patiently. From His experience we see how the Lords plan finally ended in good, for He is full of tenderness and mercy.”(James 5:10-11).
What He wants is for us to follow Him in faith even when we can’t see the next crucial step ahead. God does reveal His will to us through the scriptures, infact, the whole Bible is Gods will revealed to mankind.1 Thessalonians 5: 18 tells us,” No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is Gods will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”So we know for certain that its Gods will to always be thankful in every circumstance. Search the scriptures and you will find that’s its Gods will for us to joyful, loving, patient and kind. You may ask…Yeah but how does that help us in the “Big things”..Who to marry??If we are faithful in the small things, the big things become clearer. Much love and God bless.
